Being the owner of a mobile mechanic business like Auto Mancy LLC is a constant balancing act. One hour I’m behind a computer screen managing schedules and part orders, and the next I’m deep in an engine bay with grease on my elbows. It’s a wild ride, but honestly? I wouldn't have it any other way.
This week was a perfect example of what a real day-in-the-life looks like around here. One minute it’s business networking, the next it’s personal vehicle maintenance, then a customer rescue in a parking lot, and later high-end Porsche work. The Northshore kept us busy. Here is a look back at what the team and I tackled this week across Covington and Mandeville.
Monday – Wednesday: Building Future Fleet Relationships on the Northshore
The start of the week was less about signed fleet contracts and more about laying the groundwork for them. Right now, we’re focused on networking, showing up, and building real relationships with local businesses that rely on their vehicles every day.

That means connecting with companies like SERVPRO and All Star Plumbing here on the Northshore and talking through what future fleet maintenance could look like when the time is right. If your business runs on vans and work trucks, downtime is not just inconvenient. It cuts directly into your day and your revenue.
According to industry experts at Torque by Ryder, consistent preventative maintenance can extend a commercial vehicle's life by years and hundreds of thousands of miles. That’s exactly why we’re having these conversations now. We want local businesses to know there’s a mobile option that can help keep their crews moving without the usual brick-and-mortar shop hassle, towing, or wasted time in a waiting room.
Thursday: Community Roots and Real Local Connections
Thursday morning pulled me away from the tools for a bit and into local networking. That side of the business matters more than people think.
As a local business, we don't just work here: we live here. Building these relationships is how future opportunities happen. It also keeps us plugged into what local families and businesses actually need. We’re not just fixing cars out here. We’re building trust with the same community we serve every week.
Friday: The Mechanic’s Mechanic (And the Call That Changed the Day)
They say the cobbler's children have no shoes, and sometimes the mechanic's own vehicle is the one that gets pushed to the back of the line. Friday was supposed to be one of those "finally work on my own stuff" days.
I was working on paperwork when the day got interrupted by an emergency electrical issue on a Jeep. That’s the unfiltered side of mobile mechanic life. You can have your whole day planned out, then a call comes in and everything shifts.
What looked like a bigger electrical nightmare turned out to be disconnected wires and an IBM (Integrated Body Module) that needed a relearn. Stuff like that is a reminder that diagnostics matter just as much as turning wrenches. Sometimes the fix isn’t a major part replacement. Sometimes it’s tracking down the real issue, cleaning up someone else’s mess, and getting the system talking again.
The job took so much time that I couldn’t get back to working on my own car, which was a major setback. I need to sell it to help fund the new service truck, so losing that time hit harder than usual.
Saturday: A Tale of Two Tasks – Rescues and Precision
Saturday really showcased the full range of what we offer. No two calls are the same, and Saturday morning started with a bit of a "rescue" mission.
1. The Target Parking Lot Battery Rescue
A local customer ended up stuck at the Mandeville Target after the battery died while her son was hanging out in the car during lunch. It was one of those super real-life situations that can throw your whole day off fast.
Instead of dealing with a tow truck or hoping for a random jump in a crowded parking lot, we came straight to the vehicle and handled the dead battery rescue on site. That’s the whole point of Mandeville auto repair done the mobile way: when your car won’t move, we do.
2. Porsche Precision in Covington
Later that afternoon, the pace shifted from rescue to refinement. I met with a local customer to perform comprehensive fluid services on a Porsche Boxster.

Working on a luxury performance machine like a Porsche requires a different level of precision compared to a daily driver. That contrast is a huge part of the day-to-day in this business. In the same stretch of time, we can go from a dead battery in a store parking lot to careful service on a performance car with much tighter tolerances and specific maintenance requirements.
As noted by Makes & Models, regular specialized maintenance is the absolute key to preserving the value and performance of a luxury vehicle. Whether it's high-grade synthetic oils or specific coolant mixtures, we ensure your high-end ride gets exactly what the factory intended.
Sunday: Balancing the Week Out
Sunday tied the whole week together in a pretty real way. It was a mix of helping one customer move forward with a legit repair and telling another neighbor the hard truth when the job in front of me wasn’t safe.
I worked with a local Jeep owner on a 2018 Jeep Renegade front strut replacement, making sure the front end was getting what it actually needed for a safer, smoother ride.

Later, a neighbor in Hammond called about a 2007 Honda Civic tensioner pulley issue. On the surface, it sounded straightforward. But once I got into it, it became obvious a previous shop had botched a Helicoil repair. They didn’t lower the engine like they should have, and the bolt ended up going in at a dangerous angle.

That’s not the kind of thing you just slap together and hope for the best. A belt-driven component under load with a crooked, compromised mounting point is the kind of repair that can come back ugly. Fast.
So I refused the job.
That’s not fun to do, especially when you’re out there trying to make a living. But I’m not going to put my name on unsafe work just to make a few dollars. Sometimes the right call is walking away. Around here, it’s integrity over income every time.
